Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/- Effective tax administration, ensuring more favorable climate for taxpayers and professionalism of tax officials have determined that for the first time in the country’s history, tax revenues have exceeded those of the customs. The deputy head of the State Tax Service (SFS), Igor Turcanu, made the statement in an interview for MOLDPRES.
Thus, SFS accumulated to the state budget in January 1,301,885.7 thousand lei, up by 11.4 per cent, while the Customs Service has collected 1,234,986.9 thousand lei.
“Many events held in 2018, including those related to tax reform, reducing various tax rates and fighting envelope wages have generated the accumulations. SFS aims to eliminate granting salaries in envelopes and undeclared work,” Turcanu said.
Turcanu said that last year several actions were taken to combat the phenomenon of "wages in envelopes", as a result of which additional payments to the budget were calculated amounting to 42 million lei.
The official did not provide exact figures on the underground economy, but said they were down.
