Chisinau, 6 March /MOLDPRES/- Over 1,000 hectares of dry vegetation from several districts of the country have been destroyed by fires that have occurred in the last 24 hours.
The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Liliana Puşcaşu, said that most lands destroyed by fire were recorded in Chisinau. In the central part of the country, the fire destroyed 10 hectares of land in Hincesti district, 25 hectares in Ungheni district and over 20 hectares in Calarasi district.
Firemen intervened to quench 37 ha of dry grass from several Cahul districts. Such interventions also took place in Edinet, Balti, Falesti and Soroca.
"Firemen urge people to comply with fire regulations and not burn dry vegetation and household waste near forestry and living spaces. Under low humidity and wind conditions, combustion outbreaks can easily spread, affecting large areas,” Puscasu said.
IGSU employees recommend that burning of dry vegetation and vegetal debris should be carried out in compliance with fire prevention measures in areas that prevent the spread of fire to buildings and do not affect electrical networks, communications, gas pipelines, inflammable products or other goods.
