Moldovans sick with diabetes to receive glucose meters, tests, lancets for free

Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/ - People diagnosed with diabetes will receive glucose meters, tests and lancets for free starting from today.
The action takes place in Moldova for the first time ever and today was launched by the National Health Insurances Company (CNAM), in cooperation with the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS). Thus, the patients who use insulin in treatment will receive glucose meters each, with a device for piercing, 1,200 tests and 1,200 lancets. Those who treat themselves with oral anti-diabetes preparations will be given a glucose meter each, with a device for piercing, 100 tests and 100 lancets.
The set of medical devices will be sent through the state enterprise Posta Moldovei (Moldova’s Post) to the domicile of the sick persons. About 25 million lei was earmarked from the state budget to buy the devices.
Statistics data put out by MSMPS shows that about 19,000 insulin dependent and 81,000 insulin independent patients are registered in Moldova.
