Moldova has more than 2.2 million hectares of farmland

Chisinau, 24 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova has more than 2.2 million hectares of farmland, of which 22.5 thousand is irrigated, according to the Land Cadastre, approved by the cabinet at a meeting today. Under the document, according to the situation on 1 January 2019, Moldova’s overall area was of 3 million 384.7 thousands of hectares.
According to the Land Cadastre, there are 1 million 330,900 owners of farmlands. The lands representing the state’s public property occupy a total area of 784.2 thousands of hectares or 23.2 per cent of all the area; the lands of the administrative and territorial units – over 702.06 thousands of hectares. Private lands have an area of more than 1.89 million hectares and are in property of 1 million 282 thousands of owners.
A diminution of the reserve fund by 33.3 thousands of hectares is recorded against the situation from 1 January 2018, as a result of the exclusion of the lands occupied by constructions and annexes of the former farming units. These lands were included into the category of the ones with agricultural purpose.
The Land Cadastre provide the central and local public administration authorities, enterprises, institutions, organizations interested and citizens with information about the legal status of the lands, their areas and quality, holders of the right of ownership and use of the land.
