Moldovan deputy premier meets head of OSCE Mission

Chisinau, 25 April /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic met Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch on 24 April. Attending the event were representatives of the Bureau for Reintegration and Foreign and European Integration Ministry.
The meeting was the occasion for an exchange of views on topical issues on the agenda one year after the signing of the protocol decision on participation in international road traffic of vehicles from Transnistrian region that do not carry out commercial activities and about 8 months since its implementation.
The event focused on the correlation of analyses and assessments on current situation in registration of vehicles with neutral type plates with a proposal for optional live row, besides appointments online, thus providing more convenience to applicants and additional options for registration of vehicles.
The deputy premier submitted to the Head of Mission the list of the problems faced by the inhabitants of Varniţa, and asked the OSCE Mission to involve in their settlement, especially as regards the unilateral actions taken by so-called Transnistrian structures: unlawful application of tax payments, requesting payment of vignette by drivers of vehicles citizens of the Republic of Moldova, imposing registration of immovable property in Bender, etc.
The participants discussed the issue on respecting human rights in the Transnistrian region, revealing the need to mobilize joint efforts to provide the necessary assistance to the victims whose fundamental rights and freedoms have been violated, as well as the elimination of artificial obstacles to free movement.
Cristina Lesnic also approached the issue on bridge at Gura Bâcului, noting the need to finalize the process of its technical expertise and performing the repair and consolidation of infrastructure.
Ambassador Claus Neukirch thanked for good organization of the 16 April event, in the context of the visit of international pharmaceutical expert Dr. Michael Morris to the Laboratory for Drug Quality Control of the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency, one of the best in Southeast Europe and the activity of which meets the highest quality standards.
The Head of the OSCE Mission noted the probability of a working visit to Chisinau in the near future by Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office for the Transnistrian settlement process Franco Frattini.
At the end of the talks, the deputy premier emphasized the need for mediators and observers to be involved in the negotiation process in order to solve the problems in Varniţa village to alleviate the situation and stop provocative actions.
