Embassy of China in Moldova inaugurates anniversary exhibition of photos

Chisinau, 25 April /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition of photos, organized on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China and the 40th anniversary of China’s policy of reforms and openness, was inaugurated at the National Library of Moldova (BNRM) today.
The exhibition comprises 50 photographs showing the steps of China’s development on this period of time.
Attending the event were writers, newspapermen, librarians, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Chisinau.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, BNRM director Elena Pintilei said that the National Library had a fruitful cooperation with the Embassy of China, which represents the country which has become the second economic power in the world. “The history and culture of China now will be closer to us through books, which were today donated to the National Library of Moldova by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of China to Moldova Zhang Yinghong. The donation contains 144 books in the Romanian, English, Russian languages by well-known authors, among whom: Mo Yan, Nobel Prize laureate for literature (2012), Yu Hua, the first Chinese writer who received the James Joyce Award (2002), prolific writers Su Tong, Jiang Rong, Huang Jin, Lu Keqin, Yan Lianke and others,” the BNRM director noted.
According to Elena Pintilei, presently, the library has 1,250 books edited in China, more than 1,000 ones about China and 50 volumes for the studying of the Chinese language – about 2,500 copies in all.
In his speech, Ambassador of China to Moldova Zhang Yinghong stressed that the today’s exhibition was focused on a collection of valuable and significant nice photos and pictures which show the achievements in the political, economic, cultural, scientific and diplomatic fields of China. “We can say that this is a historical summary of those 70 years since the foundation of the New China and 40 years since the reform,” Zhang Yinghong said.
According to the Chinese diplomat, in those 40 years since the implementation of the reform, China’s economy has maintained a quick and constant growth; the people’s living standards have improved considerably, the capacity of innovation in science and technology has been considerably enhanced; the construction of infrastructure has achieved outstanding results; the cumulative power of state has increased continuously and the international influence has never been bigger.
”In 2013, President Xi Jinping proposed the big cooperation initiative One Belt, One Road, the goal of which is to strengthen the global cooperation along the way, get mutual benefits and common prosperity, as well as to bring tangible benefits to the nations of each country. China actively promotes the construction of an open world economy, creation of a community of the human destiny, promotes changes in the global governance system and continuously contributes to the world peace and development with the wisdom, potential and solutions of China,” the Chinese official highlighted.
China was one of the first countries to recognize Moldova as a state of the international community, proving a permanent attitude of mutual respect and support. The two countries efficiently cooperated in the economic, commercial and cultural sectors in the real interest of both countries and the cooperation between China and Moldova witnessed important results in various fields.
The exhibition will be opened till 25 May.
