Moldovan PM highly appreciates new model of nourishment in education institutions from central Moldova district

Chisinau, 25 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today visited a kindergarten and the lyceum Mihai Eminescu from the Straseni town, in order to verify how the process of implementation of a pilot project on externalizing the services of nourishment of children and pupils from education institutions is carried out, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The project was launched on 1 April 2019. A company from Lithuania, which presently manages the nourishment process, according to the Lithuanian model, in 66 education institutions of the Straseni district, has been nominated winner of a public tender.
Children and teachers say that the menu was more varied now, with more vegetables and fruits and the bread consumed is enriched with iron and folic acid. Cooks also say that the food products had a better quality. Some deficiencies were identified too, which are to be removed soon.
„There is always resistance when you come with something new. But we will overcome these things through quality. There are certainly problems, but it is important to intervene and they are solved promptly. Nobody is trying to escape responsibilities, everybody is open. I am sure that the project will be a success and will be extended all over the country,” Pavel Filip said.
At present, about 6,800 children and pupils are daily nourished. And starting from 1 September 2019, the pupils of the 5th-12th forms, as well as teachers will be nourished against payment, at will.
The economic agent will invest in the modernization of the infrastructure and equipments in canteens. At the same time, decision-makers will implement an electronic system of payment for nourishment and will launch a website, where parents will be able to watch children’s daily menu.
Also today, the prime minister inspected a road from the Fagureni village, Straseni municipality, which leads to the cemetery and is under full repair now. About 350,000 lei was earmarked to carry out the works. “We promised that we will restore this road and we keep our promise,” Pavel Filip said. This year, more than 2.3 million lei was allocated for the Fagureni settlement within the Good Roads for Moldova 2 programme.
