Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova is in a political crisis. In almost two months, the parliament has not managed to become functional and appoint a government. The executive director of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE), Iulian Groza, has made statements to this effect in an interview given exclusively with the MOLDPRES State News Agency.
According to Groza, there is quite a little time left, as Moldova’s legislation stipulates that, if the parliament fails to adopt a decision during three months, it must be dissolved. “Till 20 June, the parliament must become functional. This seems to be pretty difficult, in the context of the attempts of negotiations recorded on the last period. As we see, the procedure of creating coalitions after the parliamentary elections is difficult,” Groza noted.
Iulian Groza also said that those three big formations which had entered the parliament were strongly influenced by their electoral programmes and promises made to voters; this makes difficult the process of creation of a ruling coalition. “For the moment, nobody can give an answer whether a coalition will be or snap elections will be held. It is certain that, the longer this uncertainty lasts, the more seriously Moldova will be hit,” Groza added.
