Chisinau, 8 May /MOLDPRES/- Energy smart village is the new status of Festelita, Stefan Voda district, due to the participative and responsible involvement of the villagers in the activities of an energy efficiency project. It is funded by the EU, implemented by Festelita mayoralty in partnership with Social Innovation Fund of Moldova, other non-governmental organisations.
Following the project, a public lighting system will be built in Feşteliţa village using the smart energy management system. The pilot project has been recently approved at a meeting of the Energy Efficiency Agency.
The project involves the installation of 538 LED lightings on 19 streets in the village, with a total length of about 18 km. The initiative will significantly reduce the spending of the authorities and protect the environment from CO2 emissions.
"It is very important that this project is carried out, because it is a unique initiative. At the same time, it can be considered a model for other localities in the Republic of Moldova, since it provides for the implementation in a single community of several energy efficiency measures, " State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure Vitalie Iurcu said.
Community will reach its commitment by 2020, through the implementation of the project Creating the Center of Excellence by piloting energy efficiency technologies and demonstrative sources of renewable energy in Feşteliţa village. The total budget of the project is about 800 thousand euros, supported by the EU and partners, with a contribution of five thousand euros from the population.
