Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan government, representatives of the mediators and observers in the Transnistrian settlement process of the 5+2 negotiations format today were informed that the Tiraspol administration gives up the alleged decrees established unilaterally on 25 January 2019, which regarded the local public authorities and residents of the Varnita village, eastern Anenii Noi district, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The decision was taken following efforts by Chisinau authorities and continuous dialogue both with the mediators and observers in the 5+2 format of talks and with the Tiraspol administration representatives.
It is worth mentioning that, in early 2019, the administration from the left bank of Dniester ruled to declare null a string of acts released by the Varnita local public authority, thus obliging the residents to process at the Transnistrian representations. We consider that these unilateral decisions are provocations triggered by Transnistrian region’s representatives.
The issue of the Varnita village was a priority on the agenda of Prime Minister Pavel Filip. The PM asked the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry to inform the public opinion, as well as representatives of the mediators and observers in the Transnistrian settlement process to make use of all levers of the 5+2 format of negotiations and impose the Tiraspol administration to renounce the provocative actions.
