Nature reserve of Moldova hosts forest tourism festival

Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/ – The 7th issue of the Beech holiday is organised in Radenii Vechi village, Ungheni district, on 20 – 26 May. The agenda of the event includes several activities meant to promote the Natural Reserve Plaiul Fagului, forest tourism, craftsmanship, local handicrafts, etc.

The feast started traditionally with the camp of wood carvers. More national woodworking craftsmen will compete skillfully this week, and present their work on public opinion and a jury on Sunday. Also, the final programme on 26 May includes exhibition: Ca la Codru, National Festival of folk groups: La poale de codru, Targul Codrenilor, exhibition of apicultural products, medicinal plants, guided tours by reservation, lake boat trips, etc.

Firstly, the Feast was organized in 2013. "We want this celebration to become a traditional and important event, justifying its goal of promoting a healthy lifestyle and improving the quality of life in rural areas. Similarly, we planned to set up thematic route: Drumul cioplitorilor in lemn, which we hope will be successful in this region," said director of Moldsilva Agency, Ion Haralampov.

At his turn, head of the Plaiul Fagului Reserve Science Department, Boris Curos, said that the action that was traditionally carried out at the end of May in Radenii Vechi may already be called an event.

Plaiul Fagului is a protected area with an area of ​​over 5,600 ha, located in Ungheni district, near village Radenii Vechi. The Reservation was created as an ecosystem of conservation and development of biodiversity, environmental protection, and scientific research.

Plaiul Fagului was created by Government decision on 12 March 1992, as a result of the reorganisation of the silvicultural hunting farm Padurea Radeni. At present, the Reserve is housed by 100 employees and it is part of several national and international projects supported by external partners.
