Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/ - The hydrological centre of the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) today issued a warning showing an increase in the water level of the Dniester river between the settlements Naslavcea and Dubasari.
The hydrological centre warns that the water level will continue to rise by 1.2-1.8 metres on the segment Naslavcea-Dubasari of the Dniester river against the level from 22 May.
According to hydrologists, the water will get on meadows in low places in some regions.
The increase in the Dniester river’s water level is “in connection with the decision by Ukraine’s State Agency of Water Resources to increase the volume of water’s discharge from the Dnestrovsk Reservoir (Dniester river) up to 1,100 metres/second,” the quoted source said.
During May 2019, the SHS hydrological centre issued more hydrological warnings, most of which on the increase in the water level on various segments of the Prut river.
In case of hydrological warnings, there is risk of high floods and quick increases in the water level, which do not lead to significant damages; yet, they require increased vigilance in cases of seasonal activities and/or exposed to floods.
