Border policemen of Moldova donate blood on their professional day

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - More than 500 employees of the General Inspectorate of Moldova’s Border Police (IGPF) today donated blood, in the context of the European Border and Coast Guard Day, annually marked on 25 May.

The campaign was organized the fourth year in a row, in partnership with the National Blood Transfusion Centre. Its title is, Donate blood and give a drop of life from heart to heart. Safe blood for everybody.

The action was held at seven blood collection centres from Chisinau, Cahul, Edinet, Ungheni, Stefan Voda, Soroca and Cantemir.

Specialists said that the donation of blood contributed particularly to reducing the risk of heart attacks and falling sick with cancer. Also, the blood is refreshed, the organism’s immunity is enhanced and the risk of paralysis and vascular accident is reduced by 30 per cent.
