Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, gave two days to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) and State Road Administration (ASD) to discuss with the company carrying out the works on the Chisinau – Ungheni road and make a decision on their completion, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The road was to be in use in July 2016, but the works were delayed because of contractor. "The people are not interested in the reasons why works are delayed, they do not care that this company has paid penalties of €360 thousand from over €5 million calculated since 2016, people want to go on the road. And we have a responsibility to the citizens," said Pavel Filip.
The Premier has emphasised that he will no longer accept the postponement of works and the road will be built with this contractor or another. "We must not wait, but we have to evaluate the situation as it is. And we have to finally solve the issue. Or continue, but then you have to prove that you can, pay all your debts and demonstrate that you can work. If not, then you have to recognise openly that you can not do it. But we do not have to mock people. With you or without you, this road will be completed," said PM.
The value of works for the Chisinau – Ungheni – Sculeni national road is estimated at over €55 million.
