Tendency of decrease in turnover on fixed telephony services market continues to maintain in Moldova

Chisinau, 5 June /MOLDPRES/ - The fixed telephony services market is maintained on a tendency of decrease the third year in a row; the turnover dropped by 17.6 per cent to 117.9 million lei in the first quarter of this year against the same period of 2018.
The cut in the overall sales on the fixed telephony market was determined by a 12.6-per cent decrease in the overall voice traffic and a slight 0.7–per cent diminution in the number of subscribers, according to data put out by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), made public today.
The ANRCTI press service said that the decrease in the total number of subscribers had been triggered by the diminution of the basis of subscribers of the stock company Moldtelecom by 7,800 down to 982,700 and by 424 of the alternative providers, with their number standing at 117,300 in the end of the first quarter of 2019. As a result of these developments, the rate of penetration of the fixed telephony services per 100 residents decreased by 0.2 percentage points during three months and reached 31 per cent.
The diminution of the overall volume of voice traffic in fixed networks was caused by the decrease in all types of traffic. Thus, the traffic to the international networks dropped by 34.1 per cent; the traffic to the companies’ networks – by 13.7 per cent and the traffic to the mobile networks decreased by 2.1 per cent.
Due to these developments, the average monthly income per one subscriber dropped by 15 per cent and stood at 35.6 lei.
