SIS activity to be coordinated by Moldovan president

Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/- The promulgation decree and the law amending some legislative acts will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 28 June.
According to the amendments, the activity of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) will be coordinated by the President within his competence and will be subject to parliamentary control. Thus, the SIS will be headed by a director, appointed by Parliament, at the proposal of the Head of State, for a five-year term.
Also, the SIS head will be dismissed by the legislature at the proposal of the president or at the request of at least one third of the elected deputies.
The amendments also refer to the supreme special ranks and special ranks for SIS director due to be conferred by presidential decree.
The law shall enter into force upon publication in the Official Journal of Moldova. The government, within six months from the date of publication of the law, will bring the legislation in line with it.
