Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ - The police have formulated a string of recommendations to people traveling by occasion vehicles, noting that this fact implies both facilities and major risks for passengers.
Thus, law-enforcers recommend that the citizens, before leaving the home, inform the family about the place of their stay and never get into occasion cars alone, but only if accompanied by another person. The safest variant is that there is a family with children or a husband and wife in the vehicle.
If the passenger gets into an occasion car, he/she should convey to a family member a message about the automobile, such as the registration number and colour, as well as data on the place and time of setting out.
Another recommendation is that the passenger sits down on the front right chair of the vehicle, as the rear doors often cannot be opened from inside, as they have special bolts, in order to prevent children from opening the door by accident.
At the same time, passengers are warned to avoid moving by occasion cars at night, not provide personal information to the driver, such as the home address or the phone number, to keep the mobile phone in an accessible place and can call a pre-defined number or the SOS key, which would provide the exact location. If the driver takes another direction, the passenger should ask the driver to allow him/her getting out of the vehicle.
At the same time, if the driver does not inspire confidence during the movement or the passenger is in danger, the latter can ask for a stop, during which he/she should request the help of the Police by calling 112 or intervention of people from nearby.
The recommendations were made in the context that, several days ago, a 15-year-old girl from the Olt county, Romania, disappeared after she had gone to a settlement by an occasion car. The girl was kidnapped, raped and subsequently murdered.
