Moldovan PM attends National Anticorruption Conference

Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu has reconfirmed the government’s determination to combat the corruption phenomenon, as it stays at the origin of the problems faced by Moldova. The PM made statements to this effect at the opening of the National Anticorruption Conference today.   

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the prime minister emphasized that the corruption phenomenon had been tolerated by politicians, as well as by state’s bodies too much time.

„During years, politicians and opinion-makers have been competing on who speaks with more inspiration about the corruption phenomenon, who organizes bigger conferences; yet, the intensity of the public discussions have not yielded the expected results. We must seriously deal with the re-bringing people’s trust in future and for this, we should modernize the economy, industrialize the country, create jobs and enhance the people’s well-being,” Ion Chicu said.      

The prime minister urged to giving up aggressive attacks against people from whom progress is expected in fighting corruption. “If we want them to do their job better, let us help them become better,” the PM stressed.    

The prime minister appealed to the National Anticorruption Centre’s (CNA) officers, as well as other competent institutions:”We, the government’s team, rely on your responsibility, objectiveness and good intention to change the things in Moldova. We need your energy, inspiration and patriotism. I am the supporter of the idea that only we can make proper order at home – let us make order and edify a better future here, at home.”    

In the context, the prime minister noted that he had ruled to set up a public institution meant to coordinate the volunteering activities and promote the wide-scale involvement of citizens in removing the corruption phenomenon.
