Moldovan president meets employees of National Bank of Moldova

Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today visited the headquarters of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), to hold discussions with the institution’s employees on BNM’s work, as well as the functioning of the country’s banking system, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state appreciated the National Bank’s contribution to the maintaining of the financial stability in Moldova. At the same time, Igor Dodon gave assurances that the regulator of the banking system would remain independent and transparent, according to the international standards, and would not be involved in political games.
Also, those present at the meeting tackled the subject on the reformation of the banking system, which is underway and is carried out by BNM with much responsibility, being an imperative after the bank fraud. In the context, the head of state reiterated that he would back the efforts of BNM’s team as to the creation of a transparent, solid, reliable, efficient and safe system.
At the meeting with the National Bank’s employees, the Moldovan president stressed the importance to recover the money purloined from the banking system. In this respect, Igor Dodon assured the BNM’s team of the willingness of the presidential institution along with the government and parliament to provide the needed support, including through amending the legislative framework.
