Children from both banks of Dniester participated in EU – sponsored Christmas Marathon in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 December /MOLDPRES/ – Before the winter holidays, more children from sports and boarding schools, from both banks of the Dniester, participated in the Christmas Marathon, organised with support of EU.
About one hundred children took part in the Marathon, which managed to reach the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) in Chisinau. The young people had fun, supported activities to promote the healthy way of life, after which they also received gifts.
In the context, deputy resident representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Moldova, Andrea Cuzyova, said that "sport unites and makes everyone equal". "Here it does not matter religions, races, political beliefs and it does not matter from where you are. I want to underline our strategic partnership with EU, which involves people from both sides of the Dniester in joint projects aimed at improving the lives of everyone throughout the country," said Andrea Cuzyova.
The participants at the Christmas Marathon showed up at the beginning, wearing at least one holiday dress item, so as to support the special atmosphere. At the end of the event, it was held a contest of the most impressive costume, and part of the funds raised during the Marathon will be donated to the family of a boy from Ungheni district, suffering from cerebral palsy.
The Christmas marathon, which is in its VIIth issue, was organised by Sporter.MD. The supporters of event included the Programme Measures to Promote Confidence, funded by EU, implemented by UNDP, throughout Sport thematic platform.
