PM pays inspection visit to southern railroad node of Moldova

Chisinau, 26 December /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Ion Chicu, has paid inspection visit to the Basarabeasca Railroad Station, on Thursday, where he discussed with the employees and management of company Calea Ferata din Moldova (CFM), the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
PM was informed about the situation with the payment of the salaries of the CFM employees from the Basarabeasca railroad node and visions of management of overcoming the economic and financial difficulties that the company has faced.
The management of the institution presented to PM details about the undertaken actions to rectify the situation of company, but also vision of modernising the infrastructure meant to increase the competitiveness of the rail transport in Moldova.
During the talks, people expressed their dissatisfaction that they had not received their salaries for 02 months and have got them only now. PM stressed that management has been fully responsible for ensuring the payment of salaries of all employees in legal terms, emphasising that non – payment of salaries being inadmissible.
"It is good that the newly appointed management has found a way to pay the salary arrears. We cannot admit wage deductions in general, people do not have to suffer because of the bad management”, said PM. The chief of Executive said that due to non – performing economy, Moldova has become a donor of intelligent and efficient workforce. In this context, the approved Government Action Plan (PAG) for 2020 – 2023 aims to modernise the economy and boost investments in industrialisation of Moldova.
CFM comprises 52 branches, in which work 7,119 employees. Throughout the Basarabeasca railroad node, there have been exported about 65,000 tonnes of goods and imported about 60,000 tonnes in 2019. There are 1,415 workers at that railroad station, and the amount of arrears was about MDL 13 mln.
