Road workers intervene on national routes following snowfalls of recent hours in Moldova

Chisinau, 29 December /MOLDPRES/ – The road workers have intervened on national routes following the snowfalls recorded throughout Moldova during recent night and in the morning of Sunday, 29 December. The workers have cleared the surface of roads and distributed non – slip material, while dangerous road sectors are constantly monitored.

According to the State Road Administration's (ASD) info and mass media communication service, there intervened 128 workers and 123 special machines last night on roads, distributing over 1,400 tonnes of non – slip material.

The intervention of the workers was necessary because on some routes it has formed slide. These ones include: Chisinau – Orhei – Soroca – Otaci, Chisinau – Ungheni – Sculeni, Balti – Falesti – Sculeni, and Balti – Sarateni.

Under these terms, the National Patrol Inspectorate (INP) has warned drivers to comply with provisions of Road traffic regulation (RCR) and start on road only if transport units are equipped with winter tyres.

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service's (SHS) forecasts, it will continue the rare snowfalls in upcoming hours throughout Moldova.
