Moldovan premier meets group of veterans

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today went out to speak to a group of veterans, who came to protest on the Great National Assembly Square. The PM invited the protesters’ leader to a discussion in the government building. The veterans’ representatives presented a string of social and economic requirements, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Prime Minister Chicu informed the veterans about the revival of the national council for the problems of the war veterans, the leadership of which was taken over by Defence Minister Victor Gaiciuc. This platform is meant to collect the problems and proposals on the improvement of the veterans’ living standards, and afterwards to elaborate and promote solutions at the level of government.
The participants in the today’s meeting agreed that, on 24 January, a meeting of the aforementioned national council would take place, with the participation of the prime minister and veterans’ representatives. The participants in the meeting will give final touches to an efficient mechanism of communication and cooperation, so that the demands are fulfilled as far as possible.
