Moldovan PM has meeting with President of Eurasian Development Bank

Chisinau, 20 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a discussion with President of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) Andrey Beliyaninov. Attending the event were Ambassador of Russia to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov, Director General of the Russian Industrial and Financial Union Stanislav Puginsky and other officials, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM highlighted Moldova’s intention to enter the list of EDB’s associates and urged Russian companies to consider the investment potential of Moldova, including while taking into account the assistance EDB can provide in this process.
Andrey Beliyaninov informed the prime minister about the evolution in the process of examining Moldova’s entrance into the list of EDB’s associates and referred to the existence of projects in advanced phase of elaboration, which are supposed to be implemented in Moldova with EDB’s financial assistance. Stanislav Puginsky offered details on the projects of an industrial hub, meant to buy and process agricultural production from Moldovan farmers. The hub will provide connection between farmers and commercial networks and will provide financing to farmers in exchange of cultivating products demanded by end consumers. The project’s value amounts to 50 million dollars and the term of carrying out the works of commissioning will be up to 18 months.
The prime minister gave assurances that the cabinet would back such projects and urged investors to advance in its implementation.
The participants in the meeting discussed investment opportunities in the railway infrastructure sector, production of renewable energy and digitalization solutions, which might be supported by EDB.
The Eurasian Development Bank was created by Russia and Kazakhstan in 2006. Presently, EDB has six associate states: Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
