Moldova to expand cooperation with Eurasian Development Bank

Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon had a meeting on 20 January with Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank Andrey Beliyaninov, who is on a working visit to our country.

According to the presidential press service, the head of state welcomed the senior guest on the Moldovan soil and thanked for the willingness to extend cooperation between Moldova and the Eurasian Development Bank.

Andrey Beliyaninov highly appreciated the consistency of our country in its tendency to become a member of BEAD, which will allow carrying out many national and municipal projects. He noted that Moldova can initiate collaboration with the Bank until full completion of all formalities.

Igor Dodon thanked Andrey Beliyaninov for his constructive and open attitude towards solving the problems related to the interaction between BEAD and our country and said that strengthening the economic relations with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union corresponds to the long-term national interests of the Republic of Moldova, as it offers broad prospects for export of Moldovan goods and cooperation in production and investment.

In May 2018, Moldova became the first country to obtain observer status next to the Eurasian Economic Union, and last year the application for membership of the Eurasian Development Bank was submitted.

The Eurasian Development Bank has been operating since 2006 and has the mission to promote the market economy in the member states of the Bank, to contribute to economic growth and to expand the commercial-economic relations through the investment activity.
