Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/ - An analysis on all categories of prices is carried out at present, or if the oil importers say that they increased the prices, because the excise duties had grown and we see that the prices drop at the international exchanges, then we will ask for a proper reaction. President Igor Dodon made statements to this effect following a today’s meeting of the Supreme Security Council (CSS), the first one this year.
“The state must intervene: if the oil prices decreased at the international exchanges, then the fuels’ prices should drop as well. If the exchange prices drop ten times per month, it means that the costs will be decreased at fuel supply stations ten times too and it will be vice versa if the prices increase,” the head of state emphasized.
According to the president, a regrettable tendency has emerged, when the prices only increase. “The state should have leverages to intervene or if the oil importers do not understand this, then we should return to the rules in force before 2018, when the National Energy Regulatory Agency, under law, capped the prices. The law was changed; yet, we can return to that law,” Igor Dodon said.
“Some prices do not have economic arguments for increase and this should be cleared up by the government, within a commission for monitoring the prices. And this in order to weekly watch whether there are reasons for increase or it is about cartel agreements. This is the task of the state, which should not watch the things passively from outside, but punish, if necessary,” the head of state added.
