Moldovan PM meets Japanese envoy

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Ion Chicu had a meeting with Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Masanobu Yoshii on the occasion of the end of his term, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

He thanked the diplomat for his personal contribution and the Japanese Government in developing bilateral relations in various fields, in recent years. "You are a good friend of the Republic of Moldova, thank you for your work during the mandate.  I appreciate your personal support, including through the assistance projects of the Government of Japan, successfully implemented in Moldova ”, he said.

Chicu noted that due to the personal contribution of the Ambassador, large Japanese investors, such as Sumitomo or Fujikura came to our country, creating thousands of jobs for Moldovan citizens. The prime minister gave assurances that the Government remains committed to ensuring democratic processes, decision-making transparency and the rule of law, which will make Moldova become an even more attractive country for investors.

The officials reviewed the successful projects in recent years, supported by the Government of Japan, which contributed to the improvement of the educational environment, modernization of hospitals, endowment of the National Library, improvement of the fire station infrastructure and others. At the same time, they expressed the openness to continue the mutually beneficial cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the government of Japan, by carrying out several social projects in the agriculture, education and security.

The premier wished him success in his further activity and voiced confidence that Moldovan-Japanese relations will continue to develop, as the next Ambassador of Japan takes office in our country.
