Quotas of export to EU for table grapes, plums, sweet cherries from Moldova to be increased

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ - The farmers from Moldova will be able to export to EU larger quantities of table grapes, plums and sweet cherries, without paying customs duties. The parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration today approved a consultative opinion on starting negotiations and approving the signing of the Decision of the EU-Republic of Moldova Association Committee in Trade Configuration (ACTC) on updating the annex XV to the Association Agreement, signed in Brussels on 27 June 2014, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Moldova will benefit from additional tariff quotas, with a 50-per cent increase against the present volume for grapes and plums and a new quota without customs duties for cherries – 2,000 tons.
At the same time, the release volumes for wheat, barley, maize and processed cereals, as well as the quota for ethylic alcohol will be increased.
For its part, Moldova will gradually increase the volume of import quotas for goods coming from EU in the case of pork, fowl, dairy products and sugar.
