World Bank to provide Moldova with 40-million-euros-worth loan

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ - The World Bank will financially back the improvement of the quality of the higher education from Moldova. The parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration today approved a consultative opinion on starting negotiations on a draft financing agreement (Higher Education Draft) between Moldova and the International Development Association, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The 40-million-euros-worth loan will be used for the modernization of the higher education, in line with the present and future needs of the labour market nationally and internationally. The draft’s beneficiaries will be the public universities and pedagogic colleges from Moldova. The draft’s strategic sectors will be the syllabi with pedagogic specialization, engineering, information technologies, medicine.
The draft is set to unify the e-admission system, to certify the national framework of qualifications, identify and approve a mechanism of financing the higher education, increase the number of partnership between the public universities and economic agents.
The draft has duration of five years and will be implemented till 2025.
