Moldova participates in Tourism Fair in Romania

Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/ - More producers and providers of services from Moldova participated in the Tourism Fair of Romania on 20-23 February.  

Moldova’s presence at this event was ensured by the National Association of Inbound Tourism from Moldova (ANTRIM), with the support of the Investments Agency, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Embassies of Sweden, the United Kingdom in Chisinau, Embassy of Moldova in Bucharest.  

Moldova’s embassy presented the national tourism supply, as well as the newest projects which are to be finished as early as in next March, such as the Wine Road. ‘’The agenda of 2020 Events, the Route of Ruler Stefan cel Mare, hikings, cycling itineraries and bird-watching ones – are just some elements of the tourism supply about which the Romanian market could learn more details by visiting the stand of Moldova,’’ ANTRIM sources have said.   

"We are in the process of working out tourist routes to the wine cellars which can offer conditions of accommodation and tourist services. Initially, we had 18 wine cellars which had to be included in the Wine Road. Meanwhile, their number increased to 25. Among the most well-known cellars, there are Purcari, Castel Mimi (Mimi Castle), the underground cellars from Milestii Mici and the ones from Cricova, Chateau Vartely, Asconi Winery, to which famous cellars for the quality wines are added, which will soon provide tourist facilities. Here, we may enumerate Gitana Winery, Fautor Winery, Hancesti Winery, Vinăria din Vale (The Valley Winery), as well as other cellars,’’ the head of the National Association of Inbound Tourism from Moldova, Cristina Frolov, said, cited by the website www.agerpres.ro.       

For her part, the director general of the Investments Agency, Rodica Verbeniuc, said that the inbound tourism from Moldova had registered a 7.6-per cent increase in the number of tourists – a figure which exceeds the forecasts by 4.6 per cent. ‘’More and more visitors choose Moldova as tourist destination with authentic experiences, in order to taste from the wine, gastronomic, cultural, agricultural, event and adventure supply. The Investments Agency is the partner of the tourism industry in its efforts to financially and organizationally promote and support the sector’s participation in the Tourism Fair from Romania for the second year in a row. This year, we have promoted the tourism supply on new source markets, in order to connect Moldova to the international tourism flow through elaborating cross-border routes, so as to enhance the competences of the providers of tourist services and diversify the local tourist product in line with the modern tendencies,’’ Rodica Verbeniuc also said.      

According to the publications Lonely Planet and New York Times, Moldova is one of the tourist destinations which must be necessarily visited. At the same time, the website www.Winerist.com included Moldova in a top ten destinations for 2020, along with the UK, Italy and Australia, recommending the country especially for the wine tourism.
