Ninety one new COVID-19 cases, one death recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 510 biological samples were processed, of which 91 proved to be positive, in the last 24 hours. Thus, there are 1,056 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
According to the official, three of the 91 cases are of import, in people who came from Ukraine, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom and 88 ones - with local transmission. ‘’Thirty five of the 88 cases with local transmission are in Chisinau, ten ones in Stefan Voda and Soroca each, six cases in Glodeni, four cases on the left bank of Dniester,’’ Dumbraveanu noted.
The health minister also informed about the death of a 54-year-old woman. She was hospitalized on 4 April and lost the fight with the disease today.
Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that the Soroca and Stefan Voda districts remained two hotbeds of COVID-19. At the same time, an increase in the number of cases is reported in Glodeni.
“The situation is under the number forecast in the rest of the districts. This is a proof of the fact that the observance of the laws, requirements imposed bring a good result,’’ Chicu noted.
State of emergency is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic. More settlements from Stefan Voda, Hancesti and Soroca were placed in quarantine regime and the entries and exits from these settlements were blocked.
