Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - The judges’ retirement age might be increased. The parliament’s juridical commission for rules and immunities considered a draft law to this end at a meeting today.
The draft sees a gradual increase in the judges retirement age from 50 to 63 years, starting from 2021 till 2028. At the same time, the special length of pensionable service in the office of judge will be increased from 12.5 to 20 years. The quantum of the pension, under the draft, will be equal to 55 per cent of the last office salary. The quantum will increase by 3 per cent for each full year in the position of judge over the term of 20 years. Also, the quantum of the pension will not be able to exceed 80 per cent of the last office salary.
The legislative initiative belongs to the MPs of the Action and Solidarity Party faction, ACUM bloc, Dan Perciun and Radu Marian. They also propose to cancel the judge’s right to one-off allowance of dismissing worth 50 per cent of the result of the multiplication of his/her average monthly salary to the entire number of years worked in the office of judge.
