As many as 118 new cases of COVID-19, three deaths registered in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 629 biological samples were processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours, of which 118 proved to be positive. Thus, there are 1,174 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
According to Dumbraveanu, two out of the 118 cases are of import. ‘’Out of 116 cases of local transmission, 48 are from Chisinau, 11 in Soroca, 6 in Glodeni, 10 ones on the left bank of Dniester,’’ Viorica Dumbraveanu said.
The health minister also informed about the death of three persons. It is about an 80-year-old man from Glodeni and an 80-year-old man from Soroca, who were hospitalized in serious condition. Also, a death was recorded on the left bank of Dniester – a 66-year-old man.
Attending the meeting, President Igor Dodon announced new restrictive measures for the Soroca city’s residents. Thus, the Commission for Emergency Situations ruled the ban of the movement outdoors for the people older than 63 years (without a well-reasoned ground), prohibition of movement in groups of more than two persons, including in any types of vehicles.
Statistics data shows that 290 cases of infection with coronavirus have been confirmed in health system employees, among whom: physicians – 79, medical assistants – 99, doctor’s assistants – 21, para-physicians – 1, pharmacists – 5, auxiliary staff – 85 people. About 6,000 samples of COVID-19 have been collected in Moldova since 7 March till present.
State of emergency is declared in Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic. More settlements from Stefan Coda, Cahul and Soroca have been placed in quarantine; the exits and entries in these settlements are blocked.
