Moldovan cabinet extends ban on export of medical masks, disinfectants

Chisinau, 10 April /MOLDPRES/ - The government has extended the ban on the export of medical masks and disinfectants till 15 May 2020 inclusively. The decision was taken at a today cabinet meeting.
Under the decision, till the emergency state is lifted, Moldovan producers cannot export medical masks, gloves and disinfectant products.
The decision was taken given the continuation of the spread of the coronavirus inspection internationally and, in particular, given the confirmation of more than 1,000 cases of infection with this virus in Moldova.
According to the cabinet of ministers, ‘’the goal of this interdiction is to protect the lives and health of people, avoid the spread of this infection in Moldova and supply people’s demand of medical masks.’’
On 11 March, the Moldovan government banned the export of medical masks and disinfectants till 15 April. In this decision, the cabinet reserved the right ‘’to rule to extend or reduce this interdiction, depending of the evolution of the situation.’’ This right remains in force in continuation.
At present, 1,289 cases of infection with COVID-19 are registered in Moldova, of which 119 are of import and 1,170 – with local transmission.
