As many as 157 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 695 biological samples have been processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours, of which 157 ones proved to be positive. Thus, there are 3,638 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the Single Command Centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.

According to Dumbraveanu, one case of those detected today is of import from Russia and 156 – with local transmission. Most cases of infection were registered in Chisinau – 84, another ten were discovered on the left bank of Dniester, 9 in Orhei and three ones in Balti and Criuleni each.   

The minister noted that 30 out of the people who had been tested positive today were medical system employees. ‘’We have two hotbeds – an emergency assistance station from the capital, as well as employees of the therapy and urology section of the Balti hospital,’’ Dumbraveanu also said.  

The minister added that, during more days, intensely testing had been carried out, especially in hotbeds, noting that 975 people had been treated so far and 103 people died.    

Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that, on the last period, people had been observing the authorities’ recommendations, noting that the removal of some restrictions would be suggested at a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations due on 29 April. Chicu specified that the Carahasani settlement of the Stefan Voda district on 27 April had been got out of the quarantine regime, after 14 days passed since the registration of the last case of infection with COVID-19.    

State of emergency is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic.
