Moldovan PM meets Romania's foreign affairs minister

Chisinau, 30 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today received Foreign Affairs Minister of Romania Bogdan Aurescu. Attending the meeting was Romanian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Bogdan Aurescu highlighted his pleasure to return to Chisinau. The period of the next weeks will be decisive from the viewpoint of the management of the epidemiological situation.
The government of Romania has sent in a support mission a team of 52 people, of whom 41 medical specialists, who will work along with physicians from Moldova, in the context of the management of the epidemiological situation. The mission will last 15 days starting from 30 April 2020. Romania provides specific protection equipment for the Romanian personnel and physicians: 3,000 protection overalls, 6,000 medical masks, 6,000 surgery masks, 11,500 pairs of gloves, 1,000 visors and 10 isolettes.
The Romanian cabinet will approve the providing of a consignment of medical products, which will contain 500,000 masks, 50,000 overalls and a set of medicines worth about 3.5 million euros.
Ion Chicu highly appreciated the relations between Moldova and Romania and thanked for the assistance offered by the Romanian government to Moldova for modernizing the pre-school institutions and schools, solving children’s transport and other important social projects. The PM unveiled information on the epidemiological situation and the economic impact of the restrictions imposed, in order to prevent the spread of the epidemic, the resulting budget deficit and ways of coverage.

The officials confirmed the Moldovan government’s intention to follow the European integration way and Romania’s willingness to support the efforts to this end.
