Deputy premier discusses opportunities of cooperation with UNDP resident representative in Moldova

Chisinau, 1 May /MOLDPRES/ - The enhancement of trust between the residents from both banks of Dniester and the programmes carried out by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Moldova to this end were discussed at a 30 April videoconference with the participation of Deputy Prime for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic and UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova Dima Al-Khatib, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.      

The sides reviewed the projects implemented by UNDP and other UN agencies in Moldova, including the Transnistrian region, as well as the opportunity to create synergies between projects financed by the development partners and the Action Programme for Country’s Reintegration, financed from the state budget. At the same time, Cristina Lesnic expressed wish to have a close cooperation with the civil society interested in the Transnistrian subject. 

Another subject discussed is focused on the human rights in the Transnistrian region and possible assistance for promoting the observance of the rights of the domestic violence victims, inmates and other vulnerable categories, especially on the period of the COVID-19 pandemic.    

Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic emphasized the government’s concern about the safety and health of Moldova’s citizens from both banks of Dniester. She thanked UNDP and the development partners for support in enhancing the confidence between people and the dialogue with the Transnistrian side.   

The sides agreed to continue the discussions at the technical level, in order to advance on the joint agenda.
