Moldovan head of state has online discussion with president of Belarus

Chisinau, 4 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today had an online discussion with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, the presidential press service has reported.
The officials exchanged opinions on the political situation in both countries, as well as in the region. The sides also referred to the measures undertaken to combat and prevent the COVID-19 virus. The Moldovan president appreciated the work of the Belarusian colleagues on this dimension, noting that each state acts proceeding from its own circumstances. Igor Dodon thanked for invitation to make an exchange of experience between physicians from the two countries.
In another context, the officials discussed the events due to be organized in Moldova and Belarus on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The sides were unanimous in the opinion that the Great Victory was a very important holiday for the two peoples and took advantage of the chance to offer congratulations to each other on this occasion.
The head of state stressed that, given the pandemic, the far-reaching events connected with the anniversary would be transferred for 24 August – the day when Moldova was liberated from fascists. At the same time, the president of Moldova was impressed by the fact that the Victory Parade would take place in Belarus on 9 May, with the observance of all security measures.
During the discussion, the officials also tackled the way the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Union would be organized, due in Minsk on 19 May. Igor Dodon said that he would comply with the decision of the organizers and if needed, he would go to Minsk, especially as a monument was built in the memory of a Moldovan fellow countryman, hero of the Soviet Union Ion Soltis, and is to be inaugurated in Minsk, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.
In the end of the conversation, the president of Moldova thanked his Belarusian counterpart for openness to support the Moldovan people in any situation and to boost the cooperation relations in all sectors of common interest.
