Moldovan PM inspects implementation of project on supply with water of Prut meadow settlements

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today inspected the march of the works on construction of a complex on supply with drinking water of villages from the Prut river meadow. At present, the project’s goal is to provide 11 settlements with drinking water. The complex’s capacity of pumping water can meet the needs of about 50,000 people, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

In the last three months, works on construction and finishing of the pumping station have been carried out, electric networks and electric equipment were set, 5 km of network were carried out in the Bujor settlement and other works amounting to 8.7 million lei were implemented. The entrepreneur informed about the evolution of works, noting that the restrictions imposed in the context of the pandemic had delayed the delivery of other equipment.

The PM drew attention to the requirements of social distancing and undertaking measures of people’s protection in the process of carrying out the works. ‘’Households’ connection to aqueduct in settlements is carried out according to the schedule approved. The potential of the complex allows extending the network of aqueduct in other settlements and we should prepare the next phase of the project,’’ the prime minister said.     

The head of the central Hancesti district tackled the subject on construction of a 1.8-km-long road segment up to the border crossing point, which is important for seven settlements. A decision was taken to start the works immediately as the epidemiological situation allows this.      

The sides discussed the resumption of the work of a local factory specialized in the production of footwear, provided that the strictly necessary staff comes to work and the protection measures are ensured.  

Ion Chicu thanked the district authorities for the efficient management of the epidemiological situation and urged not to reduce the intensity of the anti-epidemic activities and to insist on the observance of the social distancing requirements.
