Moldovan premier inspects checkpoint at border with Romania

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today inspected the work of the border checkpoint (PTF) Leuseni, where he discussed with the head of the Border Police General Inspectorate (IGPF), Corneliu Groza and the director of the Customs Service, Sergiu Burduja, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

PTF Leuseni is the point with the most intensive flow of passengers and goods and has worked on the entire period of the epidemiological situation.  

The IGPF head informed about the essential reduction of traffic through PTF Leuseni and, in general, through all border crossing points. To prevent the spread of the infection, the Border Police enforces protection measures which allow observing the social distancing and epidemiological cards were filled in, in order to inform the public health system of the local public authorities.    

In the last 24 hours, 415 people have entered Moldova through PTF Leuseni and 417 ones left the country; 237 transport units entered Moldova and 326 ones left the country.  

The head of the Customs Service informed about the reduction of the goods transport by about 35 per cent and of the collection of revenues – by about 30 per cent.

The PM demanded undertaking needed measures to meet the convoy of assistance provided by the government of Romania and to facilitate the entrance of the aid in Moldova.

The prime minister thanked the border policemen and Customs Service employees for work and involvement in the management of the epidemiological situation. Chicu asked the leadership of the institutions to take all measures on protection of the employees and people who cross the border.
