Estonia to continue being active supporter of Moldova's European integration

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea and Foreign Affairs Minister of Estonia Urmas Reinsalu, at a today’s phone conversation, discussed ways of boosting the bilateral and multilateral cooperation, especially within the United Nations, Estonia backing Moldova’s European integration, importance of the international collaboration to overcome the pandemic crisis, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s press service has reported.
The two ministers exchanged opinions on measures adopted by the authorities in the context of the spread of the coronavirus infection and ways of cooperation to diminish the impact and overcome the consequences triggered by the pandemic, especially on the national economy.
In the context of the cooperation on the European dimension, the Moldovan diplomacy head confirmed Moldova’s interest in maintaining an ambitious agenda of cooperation within the Eastern Partnership. Minister Urmas Reinsalu said that Estonia would continue being an active supporter of Moldova’s European integration, stressing willingness to further back the implementation of the structural reforms needed.
The officials also appreciated the bilateral cooperation and the active political dialogue between the two states. They highlighted willingness to turn to good account the potential of cooperation in the sectors of common interest, including through implementation of Estonian assistance projects for Moldova. In the context, the ministers confirmed interest in organizing bilateral meetings, as well as in the holding of the next meeting of the bilateral inter-ministerial consultations in 2020. In the end of the discussion, the Moldovan and Estonian foreign affairs ministers made mutual invitations for paying official visits, in order to identify new cooperation directions.
