Moldovan government considers additional solutions to support business environment

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today chaired a meeting on identifying additional solutions to improve the financial situation of the native companies, especially the ones which have loans borrowed from financial institutions, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The restrictions imposed by the epidemiological situation hit the activity practically in all sectors of the economy. The cabinet focused on measures able to preserve jobs and back the enterprises’ vitality.
The PM asked for information on the interaction between the banking financial institutions and the non-bank sector and debtors, private people and legal entities in terms of re-scheduling of loans and giving up the sanctions for the delay of the reimbursement.
The National Commission for Financial Markets informed that 13 micro-financing institutions (non-bank crediting sector), which hold 51 per cent of the market or 285,000 beneficiaries accepted to re-schedule or renegotiate the terms of the crediting. As many as 41,182 contracts worth 677 million lei have been already renegotiated. Penalties worth 10 million lei were cancelled for 10,370 people.
The National Bank of Moldova informed that loans amounting to about 2.85 billion lei have been already re-scheduled and renegotiated in the banking sector, of which 2.5 billion lei in the case of legal entities and 350 million lei in the one of private people. This represents a quota of about 6.8 per cent of the present debtors.
The participants in the meeting considered ways of backing the beneficiaries of loans, private people and legal entities. A final decision on these ways will be taken following consultations between the prime minister and the business associations, due to be held on the days to come.
