Foreign affairs ministers of Moldova, Ireland discuss deepening of bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea today had a phone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland Simon Coveney, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.  

The officials reviewed the present stage of the bilateral relations and possibilities of deepening the dialogue between the two states, enhancement of the commercial and economic cooperation through diversifying the exports and attracting Irish investments in Moldova. Also, Minister Oleg Tulea reiterated the Moldovan side’s interest in strengthening the bilateral legal framework, in particular, to facilitate the activity for representatives of the Moldovan Diaspora in Ireland.      

In the context of the present global epidemiological situation, Minister Tulea referred to the actions undertaken by the Moldovan authorities for the repatriation of Moldovan citizens from Ireland, who wanted to return home. At the same time, the official thanked for the assistance provided by EU to Moldova’s medical system and attenuation of the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the national economy.  

The ministers also discussed the Moldova-Ireland cooperation within international organizations.

In the end of the meeting, Ministers Oleg Tulea and Simon Coveney confirmed interest to continue the inter-ministerial dialogue, launching mutual invitations for paying official visits.
