Moldovan premier welcomes humanitarian convoy from Romania

Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today participated in a ceremony on meeting a convoy with humanitarian assistance on behalf of Romania’s government. Attending the event were Romanian Interior Minister Marcel Vela, Health Minister of Romania Nelu Tataru, Ambassador of Romania to Moldova Daniel Ionita, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Ion Chicu welcomed the presence of the Romanian officials in Chisinau and thanked the Romanian government for the support provided to Moldova in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic.
„We highly appreciate and understand the value of this assistance in such complicates times. We brotherly thank you for this support. The gesture of Romania’s government shows us that needs get closer and unite good people. The assistance offered will be distributed to all medical institutions of Moldova and I am sure that it will save many lives,’’ PM Chicu said.
Romanian Interior Minister Marcel Vela said: ‘’Today, here and now, there is an extremely important moment. The entire world is facing a pandemic which does not take into account borders, nationality, religion or age. No country can overcome by itself in the fight with this invisible enemy Covid-19. We must prove understanding, goodwill and fraternity. Romania has been and will be by the side of Moldova. ’’
Health Minister of Romania Nelu Tataru noted that the Romanian assistance worth 3.5 million euros was consisted of 500,000 protection masks, 25,000 overalls, 5,000 visors, 5,000 protection spectacles, 200,000 gloves, 2,800 boxes with medicines, 10 isolettes and about 80,000 litres of sanitary alcohol.
