Chisinau, 8 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) does not want snap parliamentary elections, as the latter inevitably lead to the overthrow of the government and trigger instability and chaos. PDM leader Pavel Filip today made statements to this effect at a news conference.
According to Filip, the recent leaves of MPs from the Democrats’ faction are orchestrated and are part of an attack against the party. Pavel Filip noted that that he would continue to develop the party, which is willing to be really democratic in the true sense of the word, even if less and less members remain in the PDM faction.
„In last summer, when we switched to the opposition, we set a goal: to reconstruct this party, to re-bring it to the democratic values and we will carry this mission through. Even if we remain a few,’’ Pavel Filip said.
The Democrats’ leader specified that those who want snap polls ‘’do not thing about the citizens and are not aware of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.’’
Today, four lawmakers of the Democratic Party – Violeta Ivanov, Vladimir Vitiuc, Elena Bacalu and Oleg Sirbu – informed that they left the PDM faction and were joining the Pro Moldova parliamentary group.
