COVID-19 virus kills 165 Moldovans

Chisinau, 10 May /MOLDPRES/ - Another four people have been killed by COVID-19 and the number of dead persons reached 165.

According to data by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), among the today’s victims of the virus, there is a 72-year-old physician surgeon who worked at the Ceadar-Lunga District Hospital. On 1 May, the physician was hospitalized at the Emergency Medicine Institute in quite serious condition, after being transferred from the Comrat District Hospital.

MSMPS said that 1,176 cases of infection among health system employees had been confirmed till today, of whom: 283 physicians, 428 medical assistants, 63 doctor’s assistants, one para-physician, 18 pharmacists, 383 people of the auxiliary staff. Ten employees of the medical system died of coronavirus.

MSMPS statistics shows that 4,867 cases of infection with COVID-19 have been recorded in Moldova till present, of which 586 – on the left bank of Dniester.
