Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ - The hydrological centre of the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) today issued a forecast which shows an increase in the Prut river’s water level between the settlements Costesti-Stanca, Leuseni and Branza.
The hydrological centre warns that the Prut river level on the period 11-22 May would increase on the segments: Costesti-Stanca town – Leuseni village by 07-1.6 metres; between the Leuseni village and Branza village – by 1.4-2 metres, against the level recorded on 11 May.
According to hydrologists, the water will flow within the limits of minor riverbed.
The increase in the water level on these segments is ‘’conneced with a decision by the management of the Costesti-Stanca hydro-electric power station to increase the volume of discharge of water from the Costesti-Stanca reservoir (Prut river) up to 90 metres/second,’’ according to the quoted source.
Meteorologists said that warm and rainy water was expected this week. On 12 May, air temperatures up to +26 Celsius degrees and thunderstorm rains are forecast all over Moldova. On the next days, the weather will cool by several degrees, with short rains expected in various regions of the country.
