Chisinau Airport concession discussed by parliamentary committee

Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/- Information on the concession of Chisinau International Airport was heard today at a meeting of the parliamentary commission for control of public finances, convened online.
The reports were sent to the commission by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure. Attending the event was deputy head of the Public Property Agency Mihai Sotchi, who presented updated information of the case related to Chisinau International Airport and answered the questions of MPs.
APP submitted a lawsuit against Avia Invest Ltd on recognition of the nullity of the concession contract of the assets under the management of Chisinau International Airport and their adjacent land. The application was registered on 10 September 2019 and remains pending before the court.
Regarding the actions taken by the government, arising from the existing dispute following the addressing of Avia Invest to the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes in Washington (ICSID), the request to initiate the arbitration procedure has not yet been communicated to the Ministry of Justice. In connection with this case, the legal procedure provided by the government decision No 764/2013 on representation of state interests in courts and in national and international arbitration institutions was initiated.
The MPs of the public finance control commission noticed a delay in implementing the recommendations formulated by the parliament decision on the concession of the Chisinau International Airport.
Data provided by the authorities was made at the request of the Commission, which asked the authorities for reports on measures taken to implement the parliament decision No 141/2019 on report of the Commission of Inquiry for the analysis of the organization and conduct of privatization and concession of public property since 2013 on the preparation and conduct of the concession of the Chisinau International Airport.
