Austria donates consignment of assistance to rescuers of Moldova

Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/ - Austria today donated a consignment of equipment which contains protection means needed for the prevention of the COVID-19 infection for employees of the Interior Ministry’s General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU).
Attending the ceremony on the delivery of the donation were Head of the European Union Delegation in Moldova Peter Michalko, Ambassador of Austria to Moldova Christine Freilinger, the state secretary at the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, Tatiana Molcean and the state secretary, Sergiu Golovaci.
The officials stressed the importance of strengthening efforts in the fight against the pandemic, as well as the need to back the people who have the task to fight against the new coronavirus in the first line.
The batch provided today contains protection gloves, disinfectant and blankets necessary for preventing the spread of COVID-19. According to donors, the sum of the equipment offered is of 16,420 euros.
Austria has earlier supported Moldova during the floods of 2008 and 2010. It was among the first states to come with donations of needed equipment for liquidating the consequences of floods.
