Moldovan president visits Mother and Child Institute in Chisinau

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/- As promised through online discussions with citizens, on Tuesday President Igor Dodon paid a visit to the Mother and Child Institute in Chisinau and collected facts about the situation in the institution under the pandemic, the presidential press service has reported.
Dodon was familiar with the work of two birth wards, the rehabilitation centre and intensive care. He noted that although the institution has benefited from several projects financed from internal and external sources, there is an urgent need to strengthen technical and material basis.
The president assured he would provide possible support to equip the institution with necessary equipment and medical devices. At the same time, Dodon approached the current government's intention to invest significantly in the national health system to reduce the exodus of health workers by creating favorable working conditions by providing necessary social protection and to enhance patient safety.
Also, he congratulated the employees of the institution on International Nurses Day. The president thanked them for dedication and professionalism, wishing them good health, accomplishments and well-being.
The Mother and Child Institute was founded in 1982, and 2,294 medical workers are working here, including 30 scientific employees, 637 doctors and resident doctors, 648 nurses, 122 midwives, 811 - auxiliary and lower staff. As a leading republican institution in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics and pediatric surgery, here is performed the diagnosis, treatment, prophylaxis and rehabilitation of about 40,000 patients annually, about 5,500 births per year and about 150,000 visits to the Specialized Integrated Advisory Department are registered.
